Welcome Dr Krzysztof Wojtas!

Dr Krzysztof Wojtas works for Warsaw University of Technology as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering. His research is currently focused on the application of computational fluid dynamics, supplemented with population balance, to predict the course of industrial processes and in biomedical research, to predict phenomena accompanying blood flow in the human cardiovascular system.

Krzysztof finished both his MEng (2011) and PhD (2017) in chemical engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. His doctoral dissertation was focused on the identification, analysis and description of relations between flow, mass exchange (mixing) and the course of complex chemical reactions occurring in jet reactors. In 2018, Krzysztof joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at Loughborough University as a Research Associate, where he conducted mixing process simulations to identify key process parameters in the scale-up of polymer resin production in automotive industry. Afterwards, in 2019, he joined the Division of Separation Processes at Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering WUT.

Since his employment at WUT, Dr Wojtas has been awarded several grants regarding application of population balance to both homogenization process modeling and biomedical research, to estimate the risk of primary and secondary arterial stenosis associated with coronary artery disease. His commitment is also recognized by students—he was awarded Individual Rector’s Award for outstanding teaching. In addition to his research and teaching activities, Dr Wojtas shares his knowledge and experience also by working with many Polish companies, including ANWIL S.A., Polpharma Biologics Warsaw Sp. z o.o., SAWEX S.A.

Welcome Anton Paar!

Anton Paar develops new solutions and produces measuring devices used in R&D and quality control processes all over the globe. Anton Paar is the world leader in the fields of density measurement and the determination of dissolved CO2, as well as the analysis of flow properties and material deformability. Our customers include major colleges and universities, as well as leading soft drink manufacturers, breweries, petrochemical companies, food manufacturers, and chemical and pharmaceutical entities.

For decades Anton Paar has combined precise mechanical production with the latest achievements in research and development. In recent years, Anton Paar GmbH has invested about 20% of its annual turnover in research and development. The analytical solutions the company offers are developed at nine production sites (in Europe and in the USA). An interesting fact is that the company has designed and created a dedicated football training simulator, the so-called skills.lab, where amateurs and professionals can improve their football skills under real conditions.

The Anton Paar Group is active in more than 110 countries and has 37 sales subsidiaries. Today, more than 4,400 employees in the worldwide network of research and development, production, sales and support are responsible for the quality, reliability and service of the products manufactured by Anton Paar. Since 2003, Anton Paar has been owned by the charitable Santner Foundation.

Aside from research and development, Anton Paar’s growth is also based on strategic acquisitions. In 2007 the company acquired Dr. Kernchen GmbH near Hanover, (Germany, optical instruments), followed by Petrotest Group (Germany, measurement technology for the petrochemical industry) in 2012, and also CSM Instruments SA in Switzerland (surface characterization devices) in 2014. In 2016, Anton Paar acquired stationary Raman instrument technology from BaySpec Inc. (USA, California) and the licence for handheld Raman spectrometer technology from SciAps Inc. (USA, MA). In 2017, Anton Paar expanded its product portfolio with particle size analysis technology purchased from Cilas (France). With the acquisitions of Quantachrome Instruments (USA) in February 2018 and AXO Dresden in February 2019, Anton Paar has broadened the range of measurement technologies in its offer to incorporate instruments for the characterization of pores and porous materials and X-ray optics solutions. The acquisition of Brabender (Duisburg, Germany) in August 2023 allowed Anton Paar to include new measuring devices and solutions for material testing offered by the company.

Welcome Special Guest of 13th EYEC!

We are honored to welcome Katarzyna Siuzdak and Katarzyna Grochowska as the special guest at the 13th edition of EYEC! 🎉

Associate Professor Katarzyna Siuzdak, PhD, Eng., Prof. IMP PAN

She leads the Department of Physical Aspects of Ecoenergy at one of the institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk. During her studies, she combined biotechnology with technical physics, later earning a PhD in chemical technology. She completed a research internship in France and obtained her habilitation in technical sciences. She is a recipient of the START Fellowship from the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) Scholarship, and the Prof. W. Nernst Award. She has authored over 100 publications, book chapters, and patents. In 2022, she was listed among the “22 Polish Women to Watch” by Forbes Women.

Associate Professor Katarzyna Grochowska, PhD, Prof. IMP PAN

She works at the Department of Physical Aspects of Ecoenergy at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk. She studied biomedical physics, attending courses at the Faculties of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, Chemistry, and Biology at the University of Gdańsk, as well as at the Medical University of Gdańsk and Gdańsk University of Technology. She earned a PhD in mechanics, completed seven international research internships in countries including Germany, Portugal, and Croatia, and obtained her habilitation in materials engineering.
